UK public buyers can ask how suppliers used AI in their bids

UK public buyers can ask how suppliers used AI in their bids

The UK Cabinet Office’s Procurement Policy Note 017 provides optional questions about AI use in bids and contract delivery. It applies to the central government bodies within its scope from 24 February 2025. The example disclosure questions are not scored, and using AI to prepare a bid is not prohibited. Buyers may seek clarification, evidence of delivery capability and safeguards for confidential information.

Our perspective

A polished bid still needs verifiable substance. For suppliers, the practical response is to document how AI was used, protect confidential information and prepare evidence of the people, experience and capacity behind the proposal. That makes additional checks easier to answer.
